Ken Budd

Ken Budd is the author of the award-winning memoir, The Voluntourist, which shares his journey as a volunteer in six countries. His writing credits include The New York Times, National Geographic Traveler, NationalGeographic.com, Smithsonian, The Washington PostWashingtonianCityLabThe Chicago Tribune, and many more. He is the former executive editor of AARP The Magazine, the world’s largest circulation magazine with 30 million readers, and he continues to write frequently for AARP. Ken’s writing has won gold awards from the Society of American Travel Writers and the North American Travel Journalists Association. He has made nearly 100 appearances on TV and radio, including NBC’s TodayCBS This Morning, and CBS’s The Early Show. Ken is the host of 650,000 Hours, a web series that will debut in late 2019, and a board member of Fall for the Book.
