Jenny Masur is a native Washingtonian. She is the author of Heroes of the Underground Railroad Around Washington, D.C., a book celebrating unsung heroes of the local Underground Railroad. Her interest in the Underground Railroad grew out of her work with the National Park Service before she retired three years ago. She worked for 17 years as the National Capital Regional Manager for the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Program, National Park Service.

After graduating from Mount Holyoke College in 1971, she received her doctorate in Anthropology from the University of Chicago in 1981. Her fascination with people’s stories grew out of her Anthropology background.
