Bella Pollen

Raised in New York and London, Bella Pollen is a writer and journalist who has contributed to a wide variety of publications on both side of the Atlantic from Vogue to The Financial Times and the Economist.

Founder of design company Arabella Pollen ltd. at the age of 19, Pollen was nominated for numerous awards during her thirteen years in the fashion industry during which she built a global business before selling to textile giant Courtaulds PLC.

Author of five novels she has tackled a broad spectrum of topics - the decline of the Aristocracy in the best-selling Hunting Unicorns . Illegal immigration on the Mexican border in Midnight Cactus Family, love and loss at the height of the cold war in the critically acclaimed The Summer of the Bear.

Her recently published memoir, the part-graphic Meet Me In the In-Between, about the author’s search for home, has been described by critics as “ disturbing,” “ very funny,” “captivating,” “off-beat,” “racy,” “visually stunning” and “full of moving profundities.”

Pollen teaches and mentors young writers and is also closely involved with Marefat School, Kabul, which educates nearly 3,000 Hazara boys and girls in an ‘education for all’ Initiative.

She is currently working on a long form project about forensic pathology and the identification of migrants found in the desert, and a television series set on the Mexican Border.
