When American prisoners of war returned home from Vietnam, they learned who had rescued them: their wives. Heath Hardage Lee, author of The League of Wives: The Untold Story of the Women Who Took on the U.S. Government to Bring Their Husbands Home, gives a voice to the extraordinary women who banded together to form The National League of Families. Together, they lobbied the government and the military, met covertly with antiwar activists, and wrote coded letters in order to free their husbands. The Washington Post calls this book “exhilarating and inspiring.”
