YA authors Mia García, Chris Tebbetts, and Anna Bright consider how teenage identities change based on the choices they make. In Tebbetts', Me, Myself, and Him, a hit of whippets leads the main character to getting stuck in two timelines: living with a famous jerk father, and staying home as a third wheel in his own life. In García’s The Resolutions, teens challenge each other to a whirlwind year after choosing each other’s New Year’s resolutions. In Bright’s The Beholder, after a brutal public rejection, Selah, the daughter of the leader of the Potomac, sails the Atlantic to visit suitors, barred from returning until she’s engaged.
