Only the Lonely: Desire and Obsession to Belong

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Both Mona Awad’s novel Bunny, and Laura Sims’ Looker follow complex women who become consumed with their deep-seated need to feel a sense of connection and belonging. While Bunny’s Samantha finds herself drawn into an MFA-inspired cult of curious characters, Looker’s unraveling unnamed narrator becomes obsessed with her dazzling celebrity neighbor. As their characters dive into envy and longing, Awad and Sims ask how loneliness and desire can push regular people to go too far to get what they want.
